What is Nabia?

Hello all! We are five days out from traveling to Ghana and before we go, we wanted to share with you the heart behind our ministry. If you are wondering what we will be doing or what our ‘missions’ will look like, the real question we would like you to ask is:
What is the Nabia Fellows Program?
The Nabia Fellows Program, or just “Nabia” started out as a dream. Evangelina Opoku-Nyarko, one of our trip leaders, is the daughter of Pastor Francis Opoku-Nyarko, who runs Action Child Mobilization (ACM) - Ghana, a long-term ministry working with children in the Northern part of the country. Since she was young, she had a dream to give a camp experience to the village children she grew up with. God has brought this dream to fruition, and the Nabia camp for girls is kick-starting January 2020!

At this camp, girls from local villages in the Upper East Region of Ghana will be brought in and treated like royalty (Nabia in the native tongue) and will be taught about God the Father’s love for them. Each of these girls, connected to ACM’s ministry, have gone through an application process to come be a part of the camp and are seeking to deepen their faith. Many of these girls are affected by poverty and parental neglect, and they desire to know God the Father, who lavishes love upon them. As a part of this camp, they will have opportunities for deep fellowship, play, and spiritual growth.

However, as the vision for this camp developed, Evangelina realized that this would not be enough. Bringing in godly women for a week is a significant and impactful ministry, but what about when they leave? That is were the Nabia Fellows Program developed. The Nabia camp will begin a year-long fellows program through ACM where each girl will be mentored by a Godly woman who has herself broken out of the poverty cycle.
Our team gets the opportunity to join ACM in serving the girls during this camp, where we will build relationships with the girls and show them the real, tangible love of their Father. 25 teenage girls from ACM's clubs in the surrounding villages have applied and been accepted to attend a camp about the Father's Love for them where they will learn that they are royalty. Each day will have a different theme: The Father’s Chosen, The Father’s Love, The Father’s Saved, The Father’s Temple, The Father’s Ambassadors, The Father’s Royals, and The Father’s Arrows. Each day is a chance to explore their identity as one of the Father’s beloved daughters, and our ministry will be centered around leading the girls as they learn and grow into these truths.
As we go, here are some specific prayer requests for our partnership with the Nabia Fellows Program:
That our team would have love as they build relationships with the girls
That our team would have flexibility and joy in whatever may come up, that we will be transformed
That the girls we are working with will have hearts to hear God's love for them and that they can be transformed
That we will partner well with the ACM team and lead well all together in ministry
For God's will and our hearts to be humble servants
Thanks for reading! We will be sending out updates from now on from Ghana, so stay tuned and keep us in your prayers as we travel! Love - the team
